Issue – Kaka'ako
Senator Norman Sakamoto
February 14, 2006
As the ongoing discussion of the development of Kaka’ako continues, deciding on a sensible action plan on this special parcel has reached a critical point.
The oversight of the special land in Kaka'ako is very important. Currently, the Hawaii Community Development Authority can act to sell our land to the residential condo developer for high rise luxury condominiums. We need to find alternative ways to develop this unique parcel of land. Incorporating ideas from the community including proposals such as "People’s Preferred Plan" needs genuine consideration.
We want our community to be happy with these important decisions on special parcels of land for generations to come.
