Fort Shafter's 100 Anniversary
On March 9, the Senate and the House of Representatives each adopted resolutions honoring Fort Shafter's 100th anniversary. Fort Shafter is the US Army's oldest post in Hawaii. It is one of the State's more significant military installations. It houses the USARPAC (US Army Pacific) headquarters, the focal point for command, control and support of Army forces in the Asia-Pacific region. With more than 25,000 full-time soldiers and civilians deployed throughout the Pacific and 9,000 more in the National Guard and Army Reserve, Fort Shafter is one of the State's largest employers.
